Felisa Cafe

Hi, we are Felisa Cafe

A Filipino-American cafè concept living inside Chase Coffee Roasters in Fullerton. Purple drinks, one cat.

Felisa Cafe is inspired by Alexandra's late Filipino grandmother. The name comes from the Latin word felix, which became feliz under Spanish colonialism in the Philippines, and then Felisa, a play on the phrase happy one in Tagalog. Lola Felisa, shown smiling, was the embodiment of joy, and the cafe was designed to reflect that.

I started the concept not only to honor her legacy, but to spread joy one cup at a time. Many of the happiest memories from my childhood and teenage years were around the dining table in the night, drinking coffee.

I want to spread not only the history of each flavor, but the story behind why it is on the menu and its tasting profile to share a piece of home in every drink. I also want to continue my family legacy and share my Bisaya culture from Misamis Occidental in Mindanao, Philippines.

-Alexandra

Named after a lola

Felisa is the grandmother who kept a pot of something sweet on the stove at all times.

Drawn, not designed

Every label, sticker, and menu board is hand-lettered with a marker. The cat has been redrawn 40-odd times and still is not consistent.
